Once your server is running, the bot posts the live connection URL in your Discord channel each time the server starts.

When the last player disconnects, the bot waits 10 minutes for someone else to join. If nobody does, the server backs up its save and shuts down. Next start cold-starts in about 120seconds. Saves back up every 5 minutes while the server is running.

Does my world persist between sessions?

Yes, within a wipe cycle. Your world saves to cloud storage every time the server shuts down (auto-shutdown or /host stop) and is restored automatically on your next launch, exactly where you left it. We also keep rolling disaster-recovery snapshots on our side. See the wipe question below for what happens once a month.

Rust forces a monthly wipe. What does that mean for my server?

Facepunch ships a new game build on the first Thursday of every month, and older world saves aren't compatible with it. Your server follows the same schedule: the next time you launch after that update, it generates a fresh map instead of restoring the old one (a one-time longer start, roughly 10-15 minutes while the map generates). If you set a seed when creating your world, the new map regenerates with that same seed, so you get the same terrain back. Between wipes your world persists normally. One edge case: if you happen to be playing right through the exact wipe moment (the first Thursday), your next launch may regenerate the map mid-session - if that happens, just stop and relaunch after the wipe to land cleanly on the new build.

Can I password-protect my server?

Not yet. Rust servers run without a join password in v1, and - like every Rust dedicated server - yours self-lists in Rust's in-game community server browser, so it's discoverable and not private. A join password for private servers is on the roadmap.

Is BattlEye enabled?

Yes, by default, and it isn't currently configurable from GameServerBot.

Can I switch to a different game on the same plan?

Yes. We back up your Rust world before the switch and restore it when you come back.
